Cudeca

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

While all of us wallow in the misery of this wet and windy winter on the newly named Costa del Rain there are some people out there who have more important issues to deal with. I have think often about the wonderful people who continue to give their ‘special kind of care’ to the very sick at the Cudeca Hospice in Arroyo de la Miel in Benalmadena. They offer a vital last resort to those suffering in the final stages of cancer. They need our support so anything we can do to help would be appreciated; be it money, volunteered  time or even clothes and toys we do not need donated to the local Cudeca shop. Every little bit helps.

The Mijas Playa restaurant in La Cala held a charity night at the beginning of February to raise much needed funds for Cudeca and it was a great success, however the founder Joan Hunt gave a moving speech reminding us that Cancer is not affected by the recession but that “donations are”.

If you think you can be of any help at all please go to www.servicesdirectspain.com and click on the Cudeca link  http://www.propertiesdirectspain.com/en_arroyo-de-la-miel-spain-cancer-care-hospice-cudeca-cudeca-www-cudeca-org_serv_2431.html  or go directly to www.cudeca.org and see what you can do to help. There are many ways to help these people care for our sick from going to see the Welsh Male Choir sing on the 27th of this month ( the information is on the Cudeca website)to participating in the sponsored walk in May. Let’s make a difference.

Directly yours.

Climbing that Google ranking bar…a heady experience!

Friday, June 26th, 2009

In order to get this web page up the Google ladder we have recruited the services of Jos at www.content2control.com , and his enthusiasm and
efficiency along with the help of Nicky at
www.1on1consultancy.com  has translated into better positioning for us. Google is ranking us now at a heady 3 which means that your featured ads and websites should become more important too! And the more exposure we all get, the better for the properties too. We also changed our Forum to a Blog so getting commenting now. You can write about anything that comes to your mind so long as it’s decent. So let us know who you are, and how you are, and what’s happening out there on the Costa del Sol.

A blanket too short!

Friday, June 26th, 2009

When it comes to advertising their services, most small and medium sized businesses fall into the trap of short term ad campaigns…which like small blankets do not cover or satisfy the original needs of the advertiser. The length of time you advertise for, is often more important than the content of the ad. A one year listing on www.servicesdirectspain.com  for only 55 euro, will give you more exposure than a half page ad in a local magazine for three months and will cost you just a fraction of that.  So my advice is “Do not buy a small blanket unless you want to be left out in the cold”

The new face of advertising in Spain!

A little known and even less advertised government project plans to do away with television advertising on state owned channels sometime next year. How it will compensate them for the loss of revenue is not quite clear yet. One thing I am absolutely confident of, is that private television companies are opening bottles of champagne to celebrate the news as it will mean more revenue for them and less cost. They will be able to stretch 1 hour and 45 minutes of film to 3 hours with the obvious consequences that people will switch off whatever they are watching because they cannot remember what it was about in the first place.

So, all in all good news for viewers, publishers, gymnasiums and society’s health in general.  Effective advertising in future will be channeled via the internet so why not start now by listing your company on www.servicesdirectspain.com   for as little as 55 per year.

Why direct advertising makes sense for homeowners!

Henry Ford credited his success to the heavy advertising he embarked upon. Coca Cola and McDonalds invest billions of dollars every year in publicity. It is about time that you let people know who you are and what you do. For only 55 euro per year your advert will be seen by thousands of people who need your services. Check it out at www.servicesdirectspain.com.

Beware of dodgy printers!!

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Someone, who has since apologized, recommended an Argentinean printer called Fernando to me. He had a shop near the vegetable market on the Cartama road in Alhaurin el Grande. I ordered 2,000 for sale and for rent signs which he assured me were water resistant and once he had mounted them or whatever he planned to do they would be ready and I would be joining the growing list of his happy customers. After many, in fact innumerable telephone calls and emails ( the shop had closed down) he finally delivered the signs which I paid for in full. Once subjected to the infrequent rain the aforementioned water proof signs bubbled up and got soaking wet. They looked awful and not something I could ever send to my customers. He had kept half of the signs to continue working on them but once I complained it took me three weeks of ringing to get him to come back with my merchandise. I am writing to warn any business in the Alhaurin el grande/ Coin area who may come across a jolly Argentinean printer called Fernando driving a Veterinarian pick up truck to beware. www.servicesdirectspain.com
